What is Changing with SNAP?
If you’re 18–53, you may need to show you’re working, volunteering, or meeting an exemption.
You meet the rule if you work or volunteer 80 hours a month (20 hours per week).
If you don’t update your case, you could lose benefits — even if you qualify.
-
You may already qualify without doing anything new. Common exemptions include:
People aged 0–17
People aged 54 or older
Caretakers for a child aged 0–17
Pregnant people
People with a medical condition or receiving SSI or SSDI
People needed at home for another household member who is ill or incapacitated
People who are homeless
People in a drug treatment program
People receiving unemployment
Veterans
…and more!
